Panorama: Our Man In Moscow

This thumbnail was developed for one of Panorama’s hour‑long features, Our Man in Moscow, featuring Steve Rosenberg, the BBC’s principal correspondent in Russia.
The visual approach draws inspiration from the graphic style of classic political and historical dramas such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Bridge of Spies. These references were used to create a sense of journalistic gravity and narrative focus that reflects the tone and structure of the programme’s edit.
Since publication, the programme has performed strongly across both BBC iPlayer and YouTube, contributing to increased engagement with the wider Panorama series.

Panorama Mockup: Zelenskyy at War

This thumbnail was created as part of a mock‑up for a fictional Panorama episode. It was presented to the Panorama team as a proposal for a refreshed, cinematic visual language and a new branded iPlayer template.
The visual approach draws inspiration from Australian current‑affairs programme Four Corners and other Current Affairs programmes known for strong graphic identities, such as ITV’s Exposure.
The aim of the presentation was to bring Panorama’s thumbnails more in line with leading current‑affairs programming, ensuring stronger brand consistency across platforms and improving visibility and engagement on services such as iPlayer.

Catapult Crimes Index Promo

This index promo is an adaption of the original iPlayer thumbnail for the programme, using the same hero image of the catapult shooter in the foreground and using the On the Front Line’s brand colours in the background.
Index promos typically rely on metaphorical or figurative imagery to communicate the essence of a story and spark reader curiosity. It was therefore important to reinterpret the original iPlayer artwork into a concept that better fits the expectations of the BBC News platform.
The design used in this article was a solid source of inspiration to get the ball rolling. This was my first ever index promo for the news website as I mainly creating graphics for iPlayer.

The Making of Bill Gates

This thumbnail was one of several options presented to the producer for a biographical documentary that aired on BBC Two and was available on iPlayer.
The film explored Bill Gates’s early life and the experiences that shaped his path toward becoming a leading figure in the technology industry. To reflect that journey, the design contrasts an archival image of Gates with a contemporary portrait, highlighting the progression from his younger, ambitious self to the prominent figure he is today.
The two image layout was intended to create a sense of reflection and achievement, visually reinforcing the documentary’s themes of transformation and personal growth.

Panorama: Knife Crime: What Happened to Our Boys?

This thumbnail was created for Panorama’s Knife Crime: What Happened to Our Boys? and features the two contributors whose stories anchor the documentary. The programme follows their accounts of losing their teenage sons, and the thumbnail places them at the centre of the composition to convey the personal cost behind the statistics.
To reflect the severity of the subject matter, the design uses the contributors prominently to communicate the real‑world impact knife crime has on families. A subdued image of the crime scene was incorporated into the background to reinforce the documentary’s focus on the harsh and often devastating reality of violence.
