November 2023
Penfolds is one of the world’s leading wine brands yet is not so recognised in the UK market. Catch A Fire was commissioned to create a series of social and OOH ads which were deployed across London and the South-East. One of the campaign’s most prominent placements ran for over 2 weeks at Shepherd’s Bush Westfields.
This end frame was created for a case study film after the campaign had ended. As this video was created for Catch a Fire’s website for promotional purposes, it provided a great opportunity to experiment with applying my prior knowledge from game development and to translate those skills creating realistic lighting, God rays and particle systems to moving image and motion graphics.

End frame
The asteroid was created using Red Giant’s Real Lens Flare and designed to act as a transition from the previous shot, whilst maintaining the same directional motion as the previous shot’s camera pan to seamlessly transition between scenes.
God rays casted from the logos was achieved by layering native After Effects blurs and adjusting accordingly until the lighting felt convincing. A 3D stroke was also applied the planet below to enhance the scene’s depth and make the end frame feel more dynamic as the scene reacted to the primary light source, the asteroid.
I have prior knowledge with creating particle systems for Super Squad within Unreal Engine and felt this would be a great opportunity to experiment with another Maxon effect, Particular. The workflow felt very familiar which allowed myself to seamlessly illiterate and adjust the parameters for the particles until I felt it was satisfactory.
